Navigating the expansive lands of Elden Ring requires players to discover key highway passages and monumental structures to unlock new regions. Among these grand gateways, the Grand Lift of Dectus stands as the primary boundary connecting Liurnia of the Lakes directly to the Altus Plateau. Reaching this massive apparatus and operating its mechanisms properly is a essential milestone for anyone looking to advance their journey across the Lands Between.
Locating the Route to the Grand Lift
To reach the structure itself, travelers must travel north through the eastern regions of Liurnia of the Lakes. Following the Bellum Highway path leads directly toward the foot of the colossal cliffside elevator. While navigating this northern highway, players will pass various military encampments and barricades guarding the approach.
Gathering the Required Medallion Halves
Reaching the massive lift is only half the journey, as the platform remains entirely dormant without the completed Dectus Medallion. The left half of the medallion is located in a chest at the top of Fort Haight in eastern Limgrave. The right half resides in the deadly region of Caelid, stored within a chest inside Fort Faroth.
Activating the Grand Lift Mechanisms
Once both medallion pieces are secured, return to the base of the structure near the giant statues. Standing on the designated circle prompt allows players to raise the assembled medallion and trigger the lift mechanism. This reveals a cinematic sequence as the massive platform ascends, granting direct access to the Altus Plateau above.
Alternative Routes to the Altus Plateau
If gathering the medallion halves proves too difficult early on, alternative paths exist to bypass the lift entirely. Adventurers can trek through the northern ravine and ascend through the treacherous Ruin-Strewn Precipice. Conquering the dangerous climb and defeating the boss inside allows players to reach the plateau without using the elevator key.
